01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Casa Miño is a charming gem located in the heart of Pola de Somiedo, Asturias, Spain, offering a rare blend of a traditional restaurant, welcoming hotel, and cozy holiday apartments. This multifaceted establishment beautifully captures the essence of Asturian culture, making it an ideal destination for travelers seeking authentic local experiences wrapped in comfort and warmth.

As a restaurant, Casa Miño shines with its dedication to regional Asturian cuisine. The menu is a celebration of hearty, soul-satisfying dishes that embody the rustic flavors of the area. Starters like the Ensalada Escabechada, featuring crisp lettuce, marinated bonito, boiled eggs, and an infusion of balsamic vinegar from Modena, awaken your palate with tang and freshness. Meanwhile, the Pote Asturiano, a rich stew of local cabbage, fabada beans, and homemade cured meats such as chorizo and morcilla, invites you to savor deep, comforting flavors steeped in tradition.

Perhaps the crown jewel for many diners is the signature Cachopo — tender veal fillets filled with smoky Tineo cheese and serrano ham, perfectly breaded and fried to golden perfection. Every bite offers a delightful contrast of textures and a rich, savory taste that lingers warmly. The Fabada Asturiana, a classic, slow-simmered bean dish with homemade compango, has been praised by food lovers as possibly one of the best versions found in the region, evoking a sense of oneness with the land and its culinary heritage.

Beyond the food, the ambiance at Casa Miño is intimate and inviting. Guests often comment on the familial atmosphere created by the owner and staff, who ensure everyone feels at home. The lively yet relaxed environment encourages friendly conversations, and even on busier nights, you’ll find a welcoming table waiting, making it feel like a cherished local secret you’re lucky to discover.

As a hotel, Casa Miño continues its commitment to authenticity and comfort, earning warm remarks from visitors for its simple, clean rooms and congenial hospitality. The location in Plaza del Ayuntamiento offers stunning views and seamless access to the picturesque landscapes of Somiedo Natural Park, an ideal setting for nature lovers and adventurers alike. Guests rave about the hearty, generous breakfasts that provide the perfect start for a day of exploration, though minor notes mention room for improvement in breakfast variety and service. The friendly atmosphere, paired with regional cidermaking delights, rounds off the restful experience with a genuine taste of Asturian life.

Guests appreciate the value here — a cozy retreat where the pace slows, and every interaction feels personal. Whether you’re waking up refreshed in a thoughtfully maintained room or savoring a generous homemade potage, Casa Miño offers an authentic base from which to explore the rugged beauty and warm traditions of northern Spain.

Nearby, visitors can immerse themselves in the stunning natural parks rich with hiking trails, wildlife spotting opportunities, and cultural landmarks — making Casa Miño not just a place to stay or eat, but a gateway to memorable Asturian adventures.

In sum, Casa Miño is more than just a restaurant or hotel; it’s a heartfelt invitation to experience the flavors, hospitality, and spirit of Asturias in a setting that feels like a second home. Whether indulging in the robust Fabada or sinking into the soft sheets after a day of discovery, guests leave with a profound sense of connection — to the place, the people, and the enduring charm of Casa Miño.

Who posted £100? Less than half that. One of the most enjoyable hotels. Simple, clean, great food if you can eat enough for three, (actually the soup would feed six) amazing cider, very friendly and great ambiance.
